When you call us on the landline you may get the phone answered by our lovely Laura Lever..
When did you start with BDL?
June 2019
What did you do before that?
Became a mum for the first time! But before that I was an Office manager for a mechanical engineering company and in the UK I was a manager in retail.
What does your job entail?
Processing and monitoring incoming payments, updating accounts, liaising with customers and bits of admin for other departments where I can help out.
What is a typical day like?
I get to work nice and early because, being from the north of England I can’t start my day without a “brew” and a natter with my colleagues. Then I reconcile the bank account, answer emails, make phone calls and do any admin.
Favourite memory from work?
During lockdown whilst working from home I kept telling my husband how I was doing so much more work than him and was really busy considering I work part time, compared to his full time. He then came round and looked at my computer just as one of my colleagues had sent me a link to a local service who were delivering alcohol during level 3 and I was picking out my favourite gin to get delivered, talk about caught in the act!!
What’s a common question you get from customers?
Can I have a copy of my invoice or statement.
What do you like most about Christchurch?
We moved to Christchurch from the UK in 2012, I had never been to this side of the world before so very different for me, we agreed to take it 1 year at a time and here we are 8 years later. I love how we can travel to Hanmer and sit in Hot Pools or get a gondola up a mountain or now we can walk into the city, sit in one of the amazing bars, drink a cocktail and people watch.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I am scared to death of birds thanks to an incident with my mum and an escaped parrot in my bedroom!
What do you like most about working at BDL?
The people, it’s a real light and fun place to work and everyone enjoys each other’s company. I also love that I have had the opportunity to join a company where they allow me to work hours which work for my family and I am hugely appreciative of that.
