PRESS RELEASE: HP was recognized as one of the 2021 World’s Most Ethical Companies® (WMEC) by the Ethisphere Institute, the global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices. This is the second year we’ve received this honor. The WMEC designation helps illustrate the strength of HP’s Ethics and Compliance program and our commitment to integrity and ethics, which are core to HP’s culture.
The WMEC honor validates that the HP Way is lived out through our commitment to people, planet, and community, and winning the right way. It shows HP conducts business with integrity and that we lead by example for our employees, customers, and business partners. We are grounded in integrity, trust, and honesty. By highlighting HP’s recognition for exemplifying and advancing corporate citizenship practices, transparency, and high standards of integrity, we can affirm our brand value and corporate integrity with investors and shareholders.
In 2021, there were 135 honorees across 22 countries in 47 industries. HP is among six companies in the technology industry. Other 2021 honorees include Canon U.S.A., Dell Inc., Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, LinkedIn, and Microsoft Corporation.
According to Ethisphere’s Ethics Index, the publicly listed 2021 WMEC honorees outperformed a comparable index of large cap companies by 7.1 percentage points from January 2016 to January 2021. The in-depth assessment includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity, and initiatives to support a strong value chain. Companies with the World’s Most Ethical Company designation have on average 13.5% higher share prices. This higher share price has been tracked by Ethisphere since the World’s Most Ethical Companies’ inception and is known as the Ethics Premium.
