Way back in May 2019, we were lucky enough to visit the HP Centre of Excellence in Barcelona and saw HP’s Multi Jet Fusion 3D technology for the very first time. A lot has happened in the world since that moment but on Friday 18th November 2022 we took a plunge into the future and placed the order for our new HP Jet Fusion 5200 3D printer. We think this will be a date to remember for BDL, its a big step into a new world. The 5200 is designed for manufacturing items at scale, which will enable us to properly drive growth in 3D Print Services. 3D printing is disrupting conventional injection moulding design and production methods, the applications are simply endless. And when you factor in less reliance on shipping from overseas, local NZ manufacture, printing to order and the freedom to design parts in new ways – 3D printed parts also have a low carbon footprint compared to their conventionally manufactured counterparts. You could safely say we are as enthusiastic about 3D as we are about electric cars. So here’s to the future, we’re looking forward to the ride.
